The sidecar is a classic cocktail, consisting of 3 ingredients: Cognac, Cointreau, and lemon juice. So simple, and so good. I love experimenting with the classics – usually they are so well formed that they can hold up against a change or two. And when I say ‘hold up’ I mean they still taste delicious – even if they are not the cocktail they might have started out to be. Isn’t it funny how a small change can make such a big difference in how we enjoy a cocktail?
Recipe – Strawberry Sidecar
1 1/2oz Cognac
3/4 oz Lemon Juice
1 Fresh Strawberry
Salty Paloma Heartbreaker Rimmer
Rim a cocktail glass with rimmer and a bit of lemon juice. Set aside.
Muddle the strawberry with the Cognac.
All remaining ingredients and shake together with ice.
Strain into the prepared cocktail glass and serve.
Note : Salty Paloma’s Heartbreaker Rimmer is made of cane sugar and grapefruit. The citrus in the rimmer goes well with the lemon in this cocktail, but if you aren’t able to get it – regular sugar works.
