Bitter Mai Tai

On Monday’s I do my very best to not be bitter (because, Monday) and instead channel my energy into bringing you awesome cocktail recipes and products that are all about the delicious kind of bitter. Start looking forward to Monday!

For today’s Bitter Monday post, I’m sharing a cocktail from Stew Elington’s excellent book – 901 Very Good Cocktails (Originally by Jeremy Oertel of Dram). The addition of Campari in Mai Tai is unexpected, but the bitterness is well balanced by the sweet.

Recipe – Bitter Mai Tai


1 1/2 oz Campari
1oz Jamaican Rum
1/2oz Orange Curacao
3/4oz Orgeat
1oz Lime Juice


Orange Wheel
Maraschino Cherries


Add all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled.
Strain into a glass over fresh crushed ice.
Garnish and serve.
